Introducing the B&T Mini Crossword! The new daily-crossword challenge I’m hosting.
If you’ve been dismayed by the NYT Mini crossword being paywalled, no worries, the B&T Mini is here for you!
The B&T mini brought to you by myself and my wife (B&T) is updated daily with new challenges. In the mean time feel free to check out the backlog of past crosswords.
Each one takes a minute or so and is hopefully a fun way to start your day.

Tech chat: The website was coded super quickly in cursor (first prototype took 20minutes) and it accepts puzzles in the ipuz/json file format. These are easily created in Ingrid (Ingrid.cx)
I’ve been refining it over the past few weeks and now it’s complete with:
- Timer to see how quickly you complete the crossword
- Ability to share your score with others
- History of the last few months of crosswords
- Ability to share a link directly to a previous crossword! (via query string param)
- Highlighting of clues and squares when you’re editing (harder than it sounds to make, lots of state management and cursor was getting very confused).
